Royal Wootton Bassett’s permanent Banking Hub now open

The organisation set up to protect nationwide access to cash, Cash Access UK, has confirmed today that the new permanent Banking Hub in Royal Wootton Bassett is now open.

The new Hub is located at 33 High Street, Royal Wootton Bassett, and will be officially opened on Tuesday 19 March 2024 at 11am.

The Hub offers a counter service operated by the Post Office, where customers of all major banks and building societies can carry out regular cash transactions, Monday to Friday, 9.00am - 5.00pm.   It will also offers a Community Banker service where customers can talk to their own bank about more complicated issues on the day their bank is in the Hub:

Monday: NatWest

Tuesday: Halifax

Wednesday: Barclays

Thursday: Lloyds

Friday: HSBC 

Commenting James said:

“I am delighted the RWB Banking hub is now open. People have been deeply disappointed by the disappearance of High Street Banking; but the Hub more than compensates for it. I thank and congratulate all those who have worked so hard to make this vision a reality, and I am only sorry that Parliamentary business prevents me from being there for the official opening.”

On mature reflection….

I was persuaded by Minsters that we should await the outcome of the Enquiry which started in 2017 into the Contaminated Blood scandal before agreeing full compensation for the victims, and accordingly last night supported the Government in voting against the amendment which would have hastened that compensation in Parliament.

James Gray welcomes the Government’s Budget

James Gray has welcomed the Government’s Budget for people across North Wiltshire. Because the Government has stuck to the plan with the economy, inflation has fallen from 11.1. per cent to 4.0 per cent and is predicted to fall below 2% very shortly. That means the Conservative Government have been able to cut taxes for more people and businesses in North Wiltshire. The Government announced National Insurance will be cut again. Combined with the cut at the Autumn Statement, that is a tax cut of over £900 for the average worker earning £35,400 – giving the average earner the lowest effective personal tax rate since 1975.It means a family with two earners on the average income of £35,400 each, in North Wiltshire, will be better off by £1,827 a year.
