Today in the House of Common the Secretary of State for Defence, the Rt Hon Dr Liam Fox MP announced that the Defence Technical Training Establishment will be moving to RAF Lyneham.
Speaking after the announcement, Mr Gray said, "we fought long and hard to keep the RAF at Lyneham, but sadly failed so I was delighted by the Secretary of State's announcement today that the base will instead be used by the Defence Technical Training Establishment".
"This will mean that at least 1,500 Service personnel will be moving into Lyneham in the near future to replace the departing RAF which is good news for everyone in the area".
"If we are – very sadly – to lose the RAF from Lyneham then we must now fight for the Army to move there as they return from Germany, " said North Wiltshire MP James Gray speaking after raising the matter with the Prime Minister during yesterday's Strategic Defence Review Statement.
